This is a legitimately powerful class with great charisma synergy, to go with your paladin. More usefully: there is the Zhentarim Skymage, another Faerûn PrC. I say terrible, which it is, mechanically, but it's pretty awesome fluff-wise. There is the Great Rift Skyguard, a hilariously terrible gold dwarf-only prestige class that focuses on abandoning your griffon mid-air.
